WHY DO WE NEED PEST CONTROL ? ?

Some of the important reasons for controlling or eliminating pest problems include:

BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES

Nearly all buildings and structures in the U. S. are at some degree of attack by structural pests

The most important of these pests are wood destroying organisms such as termites, carpenter ants, wood boring beetles, carpenter bees, and wood attacking fungi. These organisms can attack both cosmetically and structurally.

FOOD

Potential food losses to pests are enormous, and not only by crop destruction in the field. In the U.S., microorganisms, insects, and rodents destroy approximately 9% of post harvest storage. Throughout the processing, transportation, and distribution systems, hundreds of millions of tons of food are at risk of contamination by pests. In homes, pantry pests, such as Indian Meal Moths, are the largest threat to food contamination.

NON-FOOD COMMODITIES

Losses from such insects as tobacco beetles, carpets beetles, clothes moths, and other such insects amount to millions of dollars each year in the U. S. Also destruction from rodents, raccoons and other mammals, as well as from birds, is enormous.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Many of the pests that are covered in this website, such as cockroaches, flies, ants, mice, rats, bats, birds, etc., are vectors for a wide variety of diseases. Their control is imperative for the health and safety of you as well as your family members, employees, and customers.
