FLEAS AND TICKS IN GENERAL

Fleas and ticks are ectoparisites that feed on the blood of warm blooded animals, including human. This can cause welt and infections in humans and can also cause serious health consequences, especially in young children.

FLEAS

These insects:
  • Are small
  • Wingless
  • Body is compresses laterally
    (thin from side to side)
  • Adults have piercing mouthparts
  • Have Complete Metamorphosis

TICKS

Ticks have spiracular plates, known as stigmatal plates, surrounding the external opening of the respiratory system. These plates are broad and located between the third and fourth pair of legs. Ticks are commonly found on pet dogs and cats, but can be found attacking people.
