These ants have become an important household pest in central and southern Florida and can be found both indoors and outdoors. In the northern United States, it is more common indoors. They tend to nest in cracks and crevices and voids and wander throughout the structure searching for food. They feed primarily on animal matter, grease, and other insects, but will readily feed on sweets of all kinds. |
Control and Prevention |
Application of a liquid pesticide barrier around the foundation, especially in warmer climates, may also help prevent these insects from entering the structure. If, however, all efforts have failed, you should then consider hiring a pest management professional. |
