OUTDOOR NESTING ANTS

These ants generally nest outdoors. They become an indoor pest when they come inside while foraging for food. Sometime, when they are nesting under the slabs of basements or slab type construction, they will enter as winged ant called swarmers. This is purely accidental, but can lead to a large "invasion" of ants.

Control and Prevention

The use of a residual liquid pesticide tends to work best. Because they are not nesting inside the structure, there is generally no need use baits or to treat the nest. By spraying the foundation, and sometimes the expansion joints in the basement, outdoor nesting insects will only be a problem outdoors.

If, however, all efforts have failed, you should then consider hiring a pest management professional.
